Visit to Kourmikouru
Yesterday was the day all of NB2 was looking forward to, with great excitement. It was the day to visit the village where the school is being built. Far away out of reach of maps and roads lies Kourmikouru.

Visit to Timbuktu
02.02.10 Half of Nb2 has been to Timbuktu today, except for Stein and Kåfjord that stayed back in Mopti to relax. Rumor has it that Kåfjord health situation is improving too. Car 2 and 4 ones again is on the road now with 2 more passengers.

On our way north in Mali.
Yesterday Car 1 and 3 drove northbound in Mali, to Mopti.
While Car 2 and 4 stayed back in Bamako to wait for the ladies who was I day behind schedule.
In the evening Kåfjord got a medical check and it turned out that he had severe food poisonin

Resting day and car service in Bamako.
Today the guys has had a resting day in Bamako, some have laid by the pool,
someone has fixed the cars and Kåfjord has spend it in his room with food poisoning.

Nb2 in Mali!
Now the entire team is over the border and in Mali, the border passing went smoothly. As Stein reported in a sms: “Mali, finally home :) ”

We are now in Nouakchott.
All is well with us, and in the morning we are taking the trip to Mali. -HP.
Tonight we received a sms report from cinematographer Peter Lee, here is his description of the last day:

Arrived in Mauritania.
Now the team is done with a multiple hour border crossing between Morocco and Mauritania.
We got a message 20:30 that they were through.
|

A little update from us guys down here!
The guys have reached Dakhla, booked in to a beautiful hotel with good showers. That was a welcome luxury! About 45 cars have abandoned the race and wish to join to Bamako, and drive the originally planned route. Here is Hans Petters own words.

Hi there.
We got the cars shipped out from Bamako to Norway, but it will be cheaper to drive them out to Dakar and ship them from there. It is a day and a halfs drive from Bamako to Dakar. My car has bought a race entry for 2011 and are ready for the fourth Bamako now:) You have a lot to look forward to. You can send me an e-mail on hp@nb2.no

Hei! Takk for det fine Rallyløpet! Det var artig å kjøre med dere! Det var bra at bil nummer tre vant alle barneløpene(Reuben).Jeg synes det var litt kjedelig at min bil fikk motorstopp (Gabriel).Vi synes det var veldig gøy (Jon Gabriel og Jonatan) Kommer dere tilbake neste år også? Håper dere har det fint i Norge og at dere kommer neste år.

Utolig deilig å komme hjem, etter atter en hektisk dag på reisefot. Dette har vært en fantastisk opplevelse. Tusen takk for alt dere har ofret for at vi kunne fange det på video. Så vil tiden vise hvor bra det kan bli. Uansett så har det vært en tur som få vil oppleve, men ingen vil glemme for oss som var med. |
